EP. 14: What’s the Royal Family Secret? Great question. I’d love to tell you. Especially if you think you have a dysfunctional family. Because if you’ve ever wished your family were like that other perfect family you wish for, then this one’s for you.
I actually learned this when my dad went for life-saving surgery. And with the death of The Queen, I’ve been thinking a lot about this. Look, whether or not you’re a monarchist, The Queen’s death is a global conversation. And it’s okay to grieve the life of someone you never knew…
But how is it that so many people seem to know exactly all of The Royal Family’s secrets? Will and Kate’s relationship? How evil - or wonderful - Meghan is? What’s happening in Harry’s inner thoughts? Why do we attribute “true” stories to a family we truly don’t know?
And, we don’t just do this with The Royals. We do this with many families, including those of commoners [pronounced with my best posh English accent], neighbours, strangers … That other family always has to be a measuring stick to compare your family, right? As it turns out, there’s a scientific reason for this - and it has to do with your survival. But it’s also kinda killing your mental health now. So I’ll tell you this - from experience:
You need to learn to love what you have -
before life teaches you to love what you lost.
So, to help you achieve that, I shall share The Royal Family secret.
Oh, you thought I had some dirt on The Royals? No. This is probably more like dirt on you …
But don’t worry. You will find out why the only normal people you know are the people you don’t know.
